This past week I listened to Lex Friedman interview Marc Anderseen about the future (and past) of the internet, tech, and how not - AI. This was a riveting conversation with someone who’s been in the internet trenches from day 1. If you’re reading this newsletter, It’s worth a listen.
We’ve also got another stream planned for the end of the month, but I’ll keep that one a surprise for the next issue 😉.

- Do you know what a visual CMS is? Yoav (👋🏽) took a stab at explaining it and how it helps you, as a developer.
- Vishwas posted a visual guide to SvelteKit routing. Really helps getting the mental model around it 👌🏽.
- Vishwas didn’t stop there and made another visual guide for prefetching in Next.js 13.
- Yoav (me again!) wrote about Tailwind CSS tips and tricks that are worth knowing. There was no drama in this post.
- ▶️ During his world tour, Miško, had a chance to be interviewed by Jack Herrington, the Blue Collar Coder himself.
- Arul wrote a post about mastering the SOLID principles using React. I can’t believe he missed the opportunity to master SOLID in Solid.js
- ▶️ A little while ago Theo explored why is everybody mad about React.
- The folks at Deno think CommonJS is hurting JavaScript.
- The Bun folks in somewhat of an answer to the previous link saying CommonJS is not going away.
- ▶️ Matt Pocock talked about the new “using” keyword that’s coming to JavaScript.
- Guchu Kelvin wrote a deep dive into JavaScript console.log.
- Ricky from the React team basically asked everyone on Twitter if they “got milk?”.
- ▶️ Addy Osmani, from the Google team, had a look at the cost of JavaScript in 2023. I always listen to what Addy has to say.
- Another person I listen to a lot is Jake Archibald whom made a case against self-closing tags in HTML.
- A deep dive into font loading on the web. TLDR; use font-display: optional;. Still a fun read.
- Ahmed Shadeed wrote about new upcoming viewport units in CSS.
- TypeScript 5.2 is out in beta. In it some new features, most notably support for the upcoming Explicit Resource Management feature in ECMAScript.
- Here’s an open source E-book about TypeScript.
- Vite 4.4.0 is out. In it: experimental LightningCSS support, esbuild 0.18, create-vite starters for Solid.js and Qwik.
- Prettier 3.0: Hello, ECMAScript Modules!
- Iconer has a ton of icons for you to use.
- Splide is a lightweight, flexible and accessible slider/carousel written in TypeScript.
- Package Json Upgrade will help you upgrade your NPM dependencies straight from VsCode.
- Someone reversed engineered Meta’s new hot social app’s API. Here’s a Node.js/TS client for Threads.
I always get a few links I don’t use in the newsletter, not because they’re not good, but because otherwise it might be too much.
But maybe, just maybe y’all are feeling adventurous or maybe you’re just board, or just waiting for all your npm modules to install. So here are the leftovers:
